4th date (depending on the type of dates and over what period of time) doesn't sound early either.

One of the guys was very recently divorced when we met and it was clear (and understandable) after a few months he wanted to date around. Another one was a 45 year old never married guy who seemed to like the dating scene - he was hard to schedule dates with because he was always 'busy'. The last guy was divorced eight years ago and has a teenage daughter. He told me he did not want to date exclusively until she was out of high school. He wanted sex with me but was not into me at all.

Men like this is why you are having trouble. Somehow, you need to filter these types of guys out.

Since you are 40 with kids, some kind of "Brady Bunch" arrangement is probably what you should specify.

To generalize for a moment, men aren't overly concerned with a clever profile. It's pictures first. If your profile shows you are intelligent, interesting, etc. that's great, but it's not the hook.
One suggestion- don't have a long list of what you don't want in a partner on your profile. No one likes those!

Hi All!

I'm 40 divorced and have two children (4 and 7). I've had my online dating profile up for almost a year now and while I have attracted people who are interested, I am definitely attracting the WRONG people! Ultimately, I am looking for a long term relationship. The kind of men I am attracting are interested in dating me for awhile, having sex with me and then dumping me. This pattern has happened with three guys now (who knows, maybe I am terrible at sex but I don't think so). I developed feelings for these guys and it terrible and hurtful to know they only wanted me for sex. I would like to change my profile so that I can attract guys that are not after a casual sexual relationship. Please help me create a profile! Thanks.
