Huh? This doesn't even make sense. You from DC?

A two hour delay will serve no purpose, the conditions in 2 hours will be the same as they are at regular start time. So if it's that bad school should be closed or nothing.

Yes, but the density of traffic on the road will be much less in 2 hours--but what's the safety of kids and teachers walking past swerving MD and VA drivers as compared to being able to say "I kept the schools open no matter what"?

Kaya Muriel power trip. Unsafe for walkers + bad driving on bad streets.

It would be ridiculous to close early, right? Apparently DS's school is low on teachers due to traffic.

But if the kids are there already, and the snow is ending at lunchtime, they'll just keep them, right?

Whiteout?? Have you been in an actual blizzard??

actually I have--it's not a total whiteout now, but for driving purposes visibility is very diminished out there right now--kids walking in light colored coats will be hard to see.

Arlington isn't closed. Dropped my kid in DC already. School sidewalks shoveled and roads fine.

Not Arlington. We started on time. But it is a giant clustereff with the buses and the roads. Saw four cars unable to ascend a small hill on Williamsburg causing cars behind to bail out. When I dropped did off at school you could see it was very lightly attended.

DCPS goes by fed--but in this case, it's unsafe for kids to walk--bad call.

I can deal with it just fine, but have you seen some of the people driving in this? I'm a bit scared of them...

There should at least be a delay.
