A doctorate in what, exactly? If it is any kind of liberal arts degree, then NO NO NO do not do it.

You should be more concerned about the career prospects of graduates than how old you'll be when you graduate.

No, I was 34. My degree landed me my next two jobs and I am now senior management at 37.

Hell no, it's not too old. You're better off because you'll have some life experience under your belt. I didn't start my MBA program until I was 32. Having life and work experience made it so much better. I have a friend who started a psychology PhD program at 39. Hell, my grandmother went back to get her high school diploma at 58 and then started taking college classes after that. It's never too late as long as you have the will and energy!

I am a single woman with no children. I would have been able to graduate at 31 and apply last year but my ex-boyfriend got in the way of that. I'm really beating myself up over this but I'm learning not to. Anyway, I really want this career but I always envisioned a husband and baby by 32 and I don't want to still be in school if that happens. I guess my own fears are prohibiting me from going for it. Would you pursue a doctorate at 27 or stay in a career you don't like?

I finished my Ph.D. at age 36. 32 is absolutely not too old.

I graduated from grad school at 32. I met my husband my first semester. We're now married with kids. I don't think you are too old at all!

In 5 years, you will be 32 no matter what. You might as well be 32 with a PhD.

Go for it! You will regret it if you don't. You never know how your life will end up- you could still get married, have children, etc... while at school!

I say go for it! 32 is definitely not too old to finish. And, marriage doesn't have to be on hold- I have lots of friends who met someone and got married while working through PhD programs. You're too young to be stuck in a career you hate for the rest of your life.

I graduated from grad school at age 51. You are never too old. If this is something you want, go for it, OP.
