I don't use silicone bakeware. Years ago I bought a silpat baking sheet for making cookies. The smell/off gassing was so strong I couldn't stand it. Used it twice then donated. It can't be good to be breathing cooked plastic.

I've read that it's impossible to really know what additives are in it, so it's not as safe as using glass or a non-reactive metal. The colored silicone is particularly iffy.

I'm sticking to stainless steel, tin, glass, etc.
