i know this is not what you asked for but try this for frosting - 1 cream cheese, 1 Tbsp. milk and 1 Tbsp sugar in large bowl and mix/whisk. Stir in 1-1/2 cups COOL WHIP. YOu don't need a mixer. you will get georgetown cupcake kind frosting.

Wooden spoon or potato masher. People were making butter cream and other frosting long before most people had mixers.

Actually, you can and might get better results. Overbeating cream cheese frosting with a mixer can cause it to break down and get runny. Make sure your cream cheese and butter are at room temperature and work in the powdered sugar, vanilla and a small amount of milk or cream with a wooden spoon.

You can totally do it!! Make sure it's perfectly softnes, grab your whisk, and add a lot of elbow grease!!!

I say pick up a cheapo hand blender but if you don't want to, try whipped cream cheese. That you could definitely do by hand and personally I like a nice whipped frosting.
