FYI - AFter 2 Disney cruises we just switch to Carnival as it was an extended family trip with some older teens. So with that factor plus the expense for some we switched. It was such a different experience. You will not regret a Disney cruise option for families. And I won't do another option for a few years - no comparison on family friendly environment and convienences on and off the boat.

We did a disney Northern Europe- 12 nights a few years ago with 3 and 5 year old kids. It was awesome. We didn't have the time change because we were living overseas at the time. Most of the USA based families came a few days early to see the origination city before embarking. Disney is awesome. It was great to be able to leave the kids on the ship for some of the port stops because they wouldn't have enjoyed the sights and longer bus rides in those cities. Disney is super kid friendly while still being great for adults. They just make it easy! Definitely check out cruise critic and disboard forums for help with planning details. Some of their excursions are great and others you can save so much and get a more personalized experience going with a private tour operator in various cities.

You absolutey won't be disappointed with disney. In addition to the service on the ships / kids clubs etc. Any excursions are also family friendly. They explain the historic significance through stories etc so the kids love it.

The time changes will be very hard on your kids. I've done a med cruise as an adult and it was HARD to be 6-7 hrs. off schedule.

Friends did the Disney med cruise last summer with a 5 year old and loved it. it convinced us to do one this summer. We are doing one of the Europe cruises though as I prefer the stops.

We are planning a trip to Europe this summer with our 2 young boys.

Can you recommend cruises?

We are leaning towards the Disney cruise. DH and I will be able to go sightseeing with and without the boys and we won't have to worry about entertaining and feeding the kids unfamiliar foods.
