There is a reason one is supposed to crack eggs into a different bowl than the one they're mixing into. If the egg smells, it's bad. This rule is true no matter what the date on the carton is. There is no reason to throw away eggs that are probably perfectly good without even testing them.

Put them in a bowl of water. If they sink = okay. ( that includes sitting on the round end on the bottom)
If they float (nothing on bottom)= trip to the store

I swear I just bought these eggs a couple weeks ago but I must have forgotten to check the date. I need to make muffins for an event tomorrow. Do you think they are still ok? I really don't feel like going to the store tonight .
