I'm sure it is real. I got a request to join meal train for someone with twins and both sets of parents who rented apartments close by to help for the first 6 months.
Meal train had laundry list of do s and don'ts plus suggestions of errands we could run including picking up/dropping off hisbands dry cleaning.

Ok, I am willing to believe that someone's SIL is a germaphobe who doesn't want anyone holding the baby and wants people to arrange a time for visit. However, adding in the requirements that visitors bring a dish AND do chores? Sorry, that is just plain over-the-top unbelievable and I call troll.

I really do not doubt that this is a real post bc OP's SIL might as well be my sister. These women exist and they're scary.

Np but I had twins born at 33 weeks and our ped instructed us to be very cautious about taking babies out in public initially due to risk of RSV, etc. we had a sign on door asking everyone to wash hands before they touched babies that was it -- only person who had a problem with it was MIL, lol. When you say mass email -- it went out to who - family or friends and coworkers as well? I'd love to go to the home of a neighbor under the instruction that I must scrub the sink while I'm there. If they pulled this with just family -- people will still show out of obligation. But for friends/neighbors etc. -- they're about to figure out that people don't really care about them as much as they thought they did.

SIL and my brother had a baby on Friday.

They just sent out a mass e-mail telling everyone the do's and don'ts of visiting. It's fucking obnoxious.

Essentially we can't hold the baby...which is annoying but I get it. Flu season, germs...I get it. However, her stipulations are bullshit. No one is going to come. We have to reserves times and it's 'requested' we bring a dish and when we do arrive we can chat with mom and look at the baby but that they need someone to get chores done so they can "bond".


Yeah, no one wants to come to your house to clean. They don't want to see you, they want to see your baby. I had three children and knew no one really gave a shit about seeing me, they wanted to hold my baby.

This will be fun.
