I think that PP was a woman saying that the ex-wives of the men she was dating were bitches.

Women=can find sex partners and/or dates anytime they want. You should have no problem.

I did it at 34/35. Now living with my boyfriend and my kids and his kids.

When I read the OP, I understood "but I can't be alone" to mean that she can't be the only 40-yr-old single parent of young kids looking to date but without a lot of energy to put into it. Not that she has to have a man in her life.

You have children, which means the need to figure out why you can't be alone is truly imperative. When you feel you can't be alone, you're more likely to accept whoever comes along, regardless of whether they're really a good match. If you want to get your single self into a crap relationship, that's your business. But you're not just getting your single self into a crap relationship, you're dragging your kids along for the ride. Please care enough about them to find a therapist and figure out why being alone is so intolerable.

It can be done, but it won't be done well if your driving motivation is 'I can't be alone'. No one wins in situations like those.

+1 That's what I was thinking. Everyone I know who wants to date and is putting some effort into dating is dating and meeting some decent people-and that's true regardless of kids, attractiveness, weight, wealth, etc. However, I think you need to shift your perspective. If you are dating because you can't stand being alone and want to meet the love of your life, it's going to be rough out there. I would suggest dating to try and meet some nice people and distract yourself and not getting to hung up on "IS HE THE ONE!", while you also work being happy and fulfilled in the rest of your life.

It's hard to find the time and attention to give to someone when kids are small. When you have the ability to date, there are people out there in the dating pool. Like dating at every other life stage, there are good people, and not so good people.

I'm in a LTR with a mid-40s divorced guy. He's the best guy I've ever dated. He's kind, self-sufficient, mature and very sexy. We are discussing marriage.

I think you need to examine why you "can't be alone."

Is it possible to find love and meet people as a single parent to two very young kids and at 40? I feel like I don't have the oooomph for it but I can't be alone. Has anyone met anyone at this age and with kids?
