I've lost a considerable amount of weight by following a primal diet (basically, no grains.) It's more complicated than that because it's a lifestyle, but the beauty is that you don't have to weigh every morsel. And you can have pork chops cooked in butter and still lose weight and get in shape. Primal is like a paleo diet, but not as hard because you can still have dairy and dark chocolate. One main goal is to get your brain to use fat, not carbs, for fuel. So the carbs you eat are from veggies, not from breads. You feel crummy for a few days (cargo-flu) while you adjust, then you feel great!
That being said, I used it in conjunction with a food journal when I got my biggest results.
The easiest website to navigate is marksdailyapple.com; just check it every day after 11am EST. He has a 7 day rotation (for instance, Fridays are readers' success stories, Sundays are the links to more info)
This worked for me too! And I feel so much better. I don't have all my other health issues I have when I'm eating grains.
