Also if you describe her as busty and say that a womens' medium top fits her, 36 is almost certainly not the correct band size, unless she is also quite heavy. For an 11yo I'd guess more like 28 or 30.

(Clothing size and band size are not always an exact correlation, but close. For reference, I'm 200lbs, size 16, and I wear a 34 band.)

+1 Victoria's Secret is terrible at sizing in my experience.

Same here. If they don't carry your cup size (i.e., over DD or DDD), they recommend larger band size/smaller cup which really doesn't work for most people.

That one is intimacy and I would NOT recommend it. They hire people who know nothing about bra sizing and often get it wrong. Plus, they are super overpriced. Go to nordstrom or trousseau.

I like Trousseau in Vienna. It's a small bra shop with lots of bras and actually a range of sizes beyond the standard. They are super helpful with sizing and finding the right bra for your size not fitting you in the bra size they have (looking at you Victoria Secret). There's also a nice bra shop in Tyson's. I forget the name but it's near the Apple store.

What about the Gap or Aerie?

TL;DR: What store should I take her to?

Backstory:
My daughter is busty (women's size medium tops fit her) and she has finally decided she wants to wear something other than sports bras. However, she's 11 and so she doesn't want matronly bras, which are the type I wear. She's going to need something with a band size of 36, so the small teen/tween ones I've seen around at Target aren't going to work. I am not a clothes person, help!
