We're trying to line things up for summer camp, and the APS calendar tells me elementary school is done on June 19th. This is our first year in the system. Is it common for kids to bail on the last week if their parents have already made other arrangements or does everyone assume there will be an extra week of school and plan accordingly?
I'm not sure what you're talking about. The calendar for this school year is set already. It's not going to run an additional week past June 19th.

Will we then go until July to make up for it???
Uh, no. We'll finish in late June, like always. Probably June 26, which is two days later than last school year.

If past experience is any indicator, APS's request to start school earlier and make the year longer by two weeks will be denied again.
I'd assume a Sept. 8 start.
