I love my Vitamix and use it everyday for smoothies. We've made hot soups, cold soups, ice cream with just fruit, so many things. It's expensive, but worth it, imo.

Not sure what you mean...you don't need special recipes for the blender.

ahh this is like apple vs android....
anyway I think they are both good but I prefer blendtec as it is more modern looking for me. I have the total blendtec.

For green smoothies or hummus either should be fine. If you're on a budget the basic models work perfectly fine. I have a Vitamix 5200 (which is on sale right now at Costco) and it works very well.

I have never tried the Blendtec, but I cannot say enough good things about our Vitamix. We got the Professional Series 750. We make smoothies everyday, and it's just so simple - no need to cut things up, can use frozen fruits and veggies. Also, the cleanup is fairly simple with a clean function on the blender that takes care of things for the most part. If it doesn't, it comes apart very easily. We still haven't tried all the other functions this blender has to offer, like making hot soup through the friction produced by the blades, but we're very excited about it.

Which is better in your opinion and why? I have read all the reviews but I am looking for some feedback. I am mostly plant based eater ooking to Make green smoothies and hummus.
