Uh oh - you done fucked up as a mom. What happened? To much drinking, smoking, fucking, partying?

Ok on a more serious note -

Depression?

Medical issues?

Someone fucked up, but it wasn't OP. Her DS is an adult. He lives out of the house. He messed up.

I wasn't being serious.

It genuinely could be the latter two issues. Did he/she go far away for college?

In my case, I would've done so much better if I lived at home and commuted to a small and UG focused institution.

Hang in there. If he were mine, he'd be coming home, getting a job and taking community college for awhile. When he's doing better, we'd regroup and take a run at residential school again.

I would not necessarily go the CC route, if DC had a network of friends at the first college who actually were progressing toward a degree and was enthusiastic about returning and doing better.

Yeah, that's a possibility.

My roommate did better because she was not able to initiate into our sorority because of low GPA. It was the carrot she needed to get her *#$& together.

On the other hand, if the friends aren't a good influence, they may be more harmful than helpful.

He took tests for which he never studied (C's), turned in most papers (A's to C's), but not a single project or any class work, and they were a large grade percent.

I'm assuming you're figuring out what happened. It could be a mental health issue, it could be a substance abuse issue. He wouldn't be the first who wasn't ready for college and needs to get his act together before returning.

It may be that OP's son won't benefit from college, but there are plenty of situations where students do much better upon returning to school after some time off, particularly if they had a job in the interim.

This was my brother his freshman year in college. When the lenders came after him to repay his loan, he dodged them. So even now as a 40 yr old, his credit sucks.

That's interesting. My DCs college grades seemed to only be based on exams and papers. Class work wasn't much of a factor at all. Sorry to hear that op. Sounds like he's a smart kid who maybe needs some time.

Is the OP describing a child at college or high school? I assumed he/she was referring to a college student.

I also note the sexism in the next poster's assumption that OP has a DS. DDs can struggle, too.

Are you at a charter school?
Talk to the school and find out what's going on.

Last year, we found out on the last day of school that my child got three "0" in English class because he was taken outof the class to take an ELL exam. He also got an "F" on his final exam, written in class, right in front of the teacher, because he had plagiarized. We wanted proof of plagiarism. They could not provide any. So we were then told that he got an F because the styel of the writing did not match his other writings.
Go see what they have to say.

OMG. That is really incredible. I am assuming he didn't go to class at all. How did he manage to earn the .33??

Thanks for sharing. You made me laugh and realize that things really could be worse...
