I don't think the worry should ever be over lack of weight gain but rather whether you are getting enough food/nutrient intake for baby. As long as you're happy with what you're eating (and you DO need to be eating more than pre-pregnancy) then the weight gain (or lack of) shouldn't matter.

25w and already gained 35lbs. Its pregnancy #4 and I usually agin about 50 with each, so I know what to expect. It sucks but this is probably my last, so I am just going to enjoy eating what I want and deal with the aftermath in 15 weeks.

FTM here. I'm at 28+ weeks and have gained just 8 lbs, much to my surprise. I'm eating normally and only doing prenatal yoga for exercise. everyone tells me I look small but the docs aren't worried and tell me it's normal. I always assumed I would gain 40 lbs or more in pregnancy, so this has all been really unexpected and even a little worrisome. but again, the docs aren't worried, so i'm listening to them. and there's still plenty of time to pack on more weight. don't worry what others say, just listen to your doctors.

Didn't gain anything until the 3rd trimester. And I'm not a super-fit athlete. Baby was just happy feeding off my existing fat-stores for a while, I guess and that was fine with OB so was fine with me. If you provider is comfortable with the pace of your weight gain, then don't sweat it. Just focus on eating healthy when you are hungry and got to your prenatal visits. Let the professional let you know if/when it's time to worry.

That was meant to say "in utero" not "in uterine"!

I gained 40 lbs with my first and at 25 lbs in 3rd trimester now with my second. Just allow your body to do what it needs to do and be sure you are eating enough/right for the baby. With my first pregnancy all the weight was off within 3 months. My sister gained 65 lbs and she's petite/size 0 normally! She lost all the weight pretty quickly too. Just focus on babys health - the nutrition they get in uterine can have a huge impact.

F all of you! (Okay, not really, but...) I gained 70 pounds! I was a size four, currently a twelve at 5 mo pp. And, no, breastfeeding does not make the weight fall off. It's a myth! Thirty pounds to go.

As long as baby is well, don't fret op.

I gained 2 lbs in 18 weeks last time. Then another 28 pounds after that.

Yeah, I totally didn't expect to be in this situation... just some undeserved luck of the draw. Who knows, I'll probably have a super painful labor or something to make up for it.

i just don't gain that much weight. I am a former athlete and start out a little on the heavy side of a normal BMI - but in the last few weeks i've dropped almost 10lbs - late in the game...but, my last pregnancy, weight variance was only 5 lbs...I'm counting it as a good thing and lucky that I don't have to try to lose 20 after the baby is born.

Not worried since LO is doing fine, but I'm halfway through this pregnancy and have net gained only -3 pounds (gained 2 between my last two appointments). Normal BMI, eating/exercising like I normally do, no morning sickness.

Anyone BTDT? Did you put on all the weight in the second half? Did you just not gain that much weight? Was it easy to lose? Was DS/DD healthy and normal sized?
