C'mon people. It's not *real* boogars. It just looks/feels like it.

How can parents be grossed by any of this after having being pooped on, vomitted on, peed on, wiping off snot of your DC's face?

I have a 9 yr old DS and was thinking of getting him this. I think my 6 yr old DD would love it, too. Go for it OP.

How does it make boogers? So gross, but a kit can do that? Really?

Definitely for my own kid. For someone else's, know the parent - my uptight sister would kill me, while my laid back cousin would get a kick out of it.

Your parents were extremely wise.

Of course I would consider getting this gift. I'm not sure what kind of problems you think this would cause? If he's doing some beginning chemistry or whatever, getting interested in the idea of science as cool and interesting, that's a way better use of his time than many other gifts he could ask for. We do a lot of little enrichment type activities like that, and I usually try to follow my kids' interests for choice of a theme even if it's not something I personally enjoy.

DS (nearly 10) is asking for a science kit that, while "educational", makes boogers, vomit, eat wax, and other gross things.
Is this just asking for trouble? There's so little he actually wants...it's either books or nerf guns...so I'm considering this gift. Am i crazy?
