My German DH eats worse, and brings it back in his suitcase ever time he travels "home".

You'll live. As long as it's not every day. It really isn't any worse than a lot of other things.

It's soooo delicious. My family is from NC and we used to have it for breakfast. I haven't had it in years but when it's made properly, cripsy on the outside soft on the inside....YUM!

OP here --oh it's Philly-NJ thing? The gray brick, HA. Yeah. I feel like it's lodged in my aorta. Delicious though. Made with pig face. What's wrong with pig face, though?. In germany, everyone eats it.

I won't touch it, but I grew up in South Jersey and it's a local thing (and in Philly).

Rapa brand scrapple - Bridgeville, DE!

I thought it was a Pennsylvannia thing that dipped down into DE and a bit into MD. My family (eastern shore) loves it, as does my husband (who came to it as an adult). I used to like it a lot, but I can't do it anymore. As someone else said, if it's pork, it's bacon.

Mmm, scrapple! Wonderful Philadelphia goodness! I've tried, but I can't make it just the way my mother did.

I wouldn't eat it every day, but it does bring back memories.
Good stuff.

DH loves that gray brick. I think it's devoid of flavor. If I'm going to eat fried pork bits, it better taste like bacon.

My husband's family traditionally cooks it for Christmas breakfast. Somehow they all live long, relatively healthy lives.

I'm from PA and we eat it all the time - in PA, not here.

Ozarks ? It's huge in jersey and philly where I'm from. Still gross to me, but everyone there eats it and survives.

I bought it furtively and cooked some of it this morning when I was alone. It filled my kitchen with that porky goodness smell, but I feel a bit queasy now, like a child who ate too much candy. Has anyone else eaten it (outside of the Ozarks) and lived?
