He was a kid. He served time. Insisting he pay restitution because he made money from Hollywood? That seems a little nuts, tbh.

He also wants to become a reserve police officer so he can carry a a loaded gun!

He needs to first get his racist felony conviction expunged before he can start toting a handgun around like some wild character from one of his action films.

Someone needs to remind Mr. Wahlberg that life is not the same as a Hollywood movie.

This is pretty old news. He has talked about his past in interviews. This is not something he kept hidden.

Wow, I didn't know. I wouldn't expect him to find his victims (they might not want to see him ever again) but there is something seriously wrong with a person who can commit violence of this kind. I don't care how old you are, what neighborhood you live in, or if your mom is a single parent working two shifts, but violent beatings go far beyond stealing some beer. Wow.

Yes, if I did something horrible when I was 16 and then later turned my life around and made millions of dollars, I would try to find those people and pay them restitution. He said in an interview a few years ago that "would be the right thing to do" but then admitted he hasn't done it. Their names are in the police report - I assume with his money, a private investigator could find them quickly.

Now he wants a pardon because he is a different person. Right...

OP here - Even if you excuse his behavior because he was 16 and lived in a horrible area (I don't), there is no excuse for not apologizing to his victims and paying restitution. That is the least he could do if he really has turned his life around (as he says). Unbelievable.

I learned for the first time today about Mark Wahlberg's thuggish and racist past. Apparently, he is asking for a pardon so a felony can be wiped off his record so that he can expand his restaurant business (some states do not give liquor licenses to felons).

The felony he committed was beating a Vietnamese immigrant senseless with a stick so he could steal 2 cases of beer from his convenience store. Another one had the bad luck to be in the area when he was running from the police and after asking the guy to help him hide - he punched him so hard in the eye that he blinded him in that eye. All the while, he was screaming racial epithets at them. This was all in the police record and he said that he was on drugs and drunk at the time (as an excuse for his behavior). He was 16 but tried as an adult and received 2 years in prison only serving 45 days (45 days for beating an innocent man senseless and half blinding another?!?)

As if all of this isn't bad enough, after making his millions, he has never tried to find these victims (or the African-American children at whom he threw rocks a few years earlier) to apologize and pay restitution. He says that he has no guilt about this because he has asked for forgiveness from God and has turned his life around.

I cannot believe this guy. I wish I could find his victims and set up a fund myself for them.
