Subject: Jewish people who put up Christmas trees
I don't understand it myself.
But recently I was watching the movie "God Grew Tired of Us" about the Lost Boys of Sudan who came to the US as refugees. These are African Christians. A couple of them arrived during the Christmas season and were taken to malls, saw Christmas trees, santas, etc.
One remarked something like "This is all very wonderful. But can you explain to me what it has to do with the birth of Jesus Christ?"

Are the one who has started three threads about Jews acknowledging Christmas? I know it's an easy subject to cause trouble at this time of year, but surely you can find something else to do with your time. Go volunteer or something.

Honestly Christmas is pretty secular. The lights, the tree, santa, reindeer- these have nothing to do with Jesus. I see them as American and secular.

The problem is that more Jewish blood has been spilled in the name of Christianity/Jesus that anything else. Why on earth would a Jew celebrate Jesus' birthday?
even some Christians aren't celebrating Jesus' birthday -- they're just having a holiday over the winter solstice - as people did in pagan times, well before Jesus. Lighting a yule log Bringing pine trees indoors was a way of brightening and warming things up during winter and celebrating the obviously lengthening days after the solstice on Dec 22.

The problem is that more Jewish blood has been spilled in the name of Christianity/Jesus that anything else. Why on earth would a Jew celebrate Jesus' birthday?

And all the Jewish families I know who do it are culturally Jewish but haven't set foot in a temple in decades.
