Cupboard, on separate shelves. I keep onions in the net bag I but them in, potatoes in a paper sack.

I keep them in the pantry, in these over-the-door rattan baskets. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/over-the-door-3-tier-basket-storage/1018670186?Keyword=over+the+door+basket Potatoes in the bottom one, onions in the middle one, garlic and shallots in the top one. I generally buy only what I will need for the week.

I don't keep potatoes -- I just buy as I need.

Onions; in a hanging bag in the pantry.

Potatoes--in a paper sack in a lower cabinet. In the fridge they go green and bitter.
Onions (and garlic and shallots and sweet potatoes)--in a wire basket hanging from the ceiling.

I have tried to keep potatoes in the pantry or in a drawer but they have always sprouted. I guess I don't really have an area in my house that's cool enough. I keep them in the fridge and they last longer than they did on the counter but I usually have to freshen the batch every month or so.

I have two refrigerators. Potatoes in one vegetable crisper in the least used fridge.

I peel all onions before putting it in ziplock bags and in the crisper. It makes cutting it easier and my eyes do not tear. I also saute and keep large quantities to add when I am cooking.

Potatoes in the pantry off of the floor. Onions in the vegetable crisper until I have a free day to chop them. It's easier to chop and freeze for me than to cut when I need.

OP. Just curious: Do you keep any other vegetables in drawers? Garlic? Trying to get a handle on where I *should* be keeping things.
