I live in the neighborhood and know Shepherd Park residents who commute to work via the SS metro--it's walkable from the northernmost part of the neighborhood.

Hmm. Why would they be taking the train from Silver Spring? I assume address cheaters.

LOL whut? You need a geography lesson. Silver spring is the closest metro to a whole section of DC.

Maybe look at a couple of maps and see if you can figure out what the closest Red Line stop to Colonial Village or Shepherd Park is before making that assumption.

Yes, but--according to my DC-- periodically unsuspecting riders mistakenly get on . I suspect they pretty quickly figure out that they're on the wrong bus.

Ha, I did that once. Never again!

Oh man being the only adult on a bus full of middle school students. Not fun! (Don't worry parents I'm sure your child was the good one it's those other people's kids. Kidding)

There are actually several buses, as I just discovered (to my surprise). Here are the bus routes.

Our neighbors take the Deal bus. When my DC reaches Deal, I thought I'd dread public transportation, but it seems safe and many neighborhood kids take it together.

I see many kids waiting for the bus on 16th. But I know people who drive their kids too. You'll probably get more answers if you post to the Shepherd Park listserv.

How do people's kids do this commute? Are they taking public transit? Are parents driving them? Carpools?
