I work 6-20 hours a week. Not really a SAHM, not really a WOHM. It's hard to find my niche. Really, as a parent, you're always failing in one area or the other. You CAN'T have it all. The sooner this is realized, the better.

I work for the federal gov't, full time. However, tough to get all my work done in 40 hours/week so I usually work 40-46 hours per week. I don't spend enough time with my children and feel sad and guilty about it. Fortunately, DH has a flexible job and works less hours. I'm the one with the stable income so I don't have a choice but I love my job so that's grateful for that.

I work between 10-15 depending on the time of the semester as an adjunct professor. The pay is terrible (almost criminally so) but DH is a big law partner so makes a lot in exchange for working a ton of hours. This schedule allows me to keep working, take care of most things on the home front, and spend lots of time with my kids. When the youngest goes to full time school, I'm going to give up some of the flexibility and find something that pays better for the effort.

I work 32 hours/week and I love it. Everyone I know who is in a high-power position (and is a parent) is pretty miserable so I just made the decision that that will not be my life. I have achieved enough professionally, I don't feel the need to go higher. At this point I wouldn't even consider a job that requires 40+ hours/week, everyday in the office.

I work 36 hours/week, 4 days. DH travels, sometimes a lot, so having this balance works for us right now. I might change one way or the other once I have one in school, or two in day care. I wish we made more money, but I'm happy that my work stays at work most of the time, I have a predictable schedule, I always have 4 (or 5!) day weekends, and I haven't completed eliminated the possibility of career advancement. I'm not an attorney, though I did get my MBA from a top-rated school, with plans to do something very different from what I'm doing right now. I still feel regret sometimes at the amount that I work, but less so than if I worked 50 hours a week or traveled.

I'm a SAHM, and I also work part-time as an attorney 5-10 hours per week. It's either the best or the worst of both worlds. But I get to see my children plenty.

Well, I'm an attorney too. I chose to mommy-track my career and never work more than 40 hours (often less), and work 2-3 days/week from home. I get zero job satisfaction, have grossly limited my earning capacity and always feel like I didn't live up to my potential and am somewhat of a professional failure. But I do spend lots of time with my kids. With any decision we make, there are always trade-offs and the grass is often greener on the other side.

No, I don't, because I work 40 per week. I have options in my field with billable hours like that, but I chose a different path so that I could be an equal parenting partner.

36, 3 days a week. RN, picked the career in part for the hours/ 4 days off, though working the occasional holiday and weekends hurts.

I am an attorney and work the usual crazy hours. This year alone I pulled 2800 hours. DH has been making up for the slack on my end. Sometimes it seems that its criminal that I'm a parent and spend so little time with my child (a few hours in the morning and evening). Does anyone else feel this way?
