My DC applied to PSU, UMD, MICH, Purdue nov 1 and Still haven't heard. He Applied for Engineering. I am getting nervous because 2 years ago older DC heard within weeks from most and didn't even have a major!
Is this normal? He looks great on Naviance and guidance counselor says his schools are realistic.

All of the above. DC applied to all of his schools 2 months ago. Got his first response within 3 weeks.

The better the student (grades and test scores), the quicker the reply. If the student credentials are on the fence, admissions waits for more applications.

My DD heard back in 2 weeks- it was her safety and after touring it last week it is her first choice- I think she's made up her mind! Nice merit aid for 4 yrs too!

Our HS seemed to have their own timeline re: handling their end and they weren't very helpful to meet our requested timetable. It worked but took more prodding from DC and us than it should. I wish HS would realize that often there is a strategy and timing is important.

The prodding, if necessary, should come from the DC, not the parents. The counselors want the students taking responsibility for the applications, recommendations and transcript requests, and some will bristle if the parents get involved.

My DD heard from two schools within days of getting her transcript, which the counseling office was very slow to send out. The others came within 3 weeks. I was amazed at how quickly we got responses, including one rejection.

Yes, all of the above. DD heard back from a school eight days later, and she also hasn't heard back from a school she applied to at the end of September.

I know every school is different. But in general, if a school has rolling admissions, when could we expect to hear? 2 weeks? 4 weeks? 8 weeks?
