1. We would not even think to comment about reporters following the girls to school in this day and age.
2. The comments about Amy Carter focused on her views on nuclear arms, and the book incident. These two girls have been hounded at every turn.

I am liberal, but not so liberal that I feel every assault on the president is unwarranted. However, I'm also old enough to remember Amy, the Bush daughters (even though older), and Chelsea in the White House and the unspoken rule that nobody picked on them. This was just below the belt. Pick on Obama all you want. Leave the kids alone.

If you think they left Amy alone, your memory needs some serious refreshing. You don't remember her reading a book at a dinner--I think it was a State Dinner. Big scandal.

+1. Lauten's comments were classless along with her faux apology. The girls are off limits, period.

Apparently Lauten wasn't familiar with the drink related incidents and other foibles of the Bush girls while dad was president.

I'm sorry, but those girls are dressed just fine. There is nothing "barfly" about their outfits. Yes, maybe they look a little bored, but show me a teenager that wouldn't be.

I don't even get the pretext here. The girls look like beautiful, poised young teenagers occasionally betraying the fact that they recognize the very high cheese factor associated with a Presidential "turkey pardon." To go off on them like that Republican staffer did is just odd.

Yeah, the staffer should be fired, because she's obviously incompetent and has poor judgment. But if those are the type of communications skills that are valued by her employer, so be it. She's obviously a gift to the Obama administration because, face it, not many people like to see teens bullied verbally by adults.
