She also complains about the "cost" of my going to the doctor despite the fact that we have insurance. I go once a year for a physical and when I need to. She never goes and claims she is "saving us money."

Then she complains I "never listen to her." She is just crazy.

You sound like you have serious issues with your wife and flat out dislike her. Maybe she is acting crazy to you as a result.

Yes, I'd be embarrassed if my SO didnt have an iPhone. I'm not looking to be associated with a plebe.

It sounds to me that OP's wife is superficial and status conscious. She wants to save money on things like doctors bills and health concerns so that she can splurge on status symbols. She's probably embarrassed that OP uses an old non-smart phone because she feels that it makes them look cheap or poor.

Sorry, OP. I feel for you. I would recommend couples counseling because her overbearing controlling nature is a long-term problem. Do not just bottle this up or you'll end up divorced and having problems figuring out how you got there. Work on this now, while you still have enough emotion for her that you want to make it work. If you wait until she drives you over the top, you'll never be able to make it work.

My phone is broken and I need a new one. I dconot need or want an iPhone6. I need an unlocked GSM phone. My present phone is an Android. I can get another Android phone for $200 or less or an iPhone 5c for $249. Why spend $750 on a phone locked to AT&T. That is the cost with a two-year contract or AT&T Next. The problem is, among other things, that DW is fixated on brand over function. If she wants me to have the iPhone6 she can buy me one, otherwise no. I sense she expects I should take her iPhone 5 and give her the brand new iPhone6.

I wouldn't even care if my DH had a flip phone. I suppose I would insist he had a cell phone for emergencies, but after that, I wouldn't care what it looked like or whether it had the latest features.
