My issue as well.

Even with the tilt one, my undying love wavered a bit when I realized that there is not really a lot of room to get the ingredients in the bowl. But I soon realized that unless you need to add things one by one and beat for awhile, its easier to just take the bowl off, add the ingredients, and then put the bowl back on mixer (then attach the beaters).

You got the higher end model (as others have pointed out).

I've been eyeing them up for years, and did read somewhere that a lot of people prefer the low end modes for the tilt feature. But surely there must be a benefit. Maybe you have more bowl size options. Hopefully once you get used to it, it will be fine.

But don't feel bad if you have trouble using it. I finally bought one this year (the tilt kind), and I haven't used one for 20 years in my mom's kitchen. I was flabbergasted by the fact the bowl locks in place (the old fashion ones, the bowl moves because the tiny little beaters only hit one tiny part of the bowl).

Same here. Plus, this design seems a lot more stable than the tilt head one I tried at a friend's house once.

This is what I have as well. It's a pain to put the bowl and beaters on. It was a gift so I'm not going to complain too much!

I just bought the professional model at Costco which doesn't have the tilt-back head and I don't like it. I don't like the way the bowl attaches either. I'm returning it for a lower-end model.

We have the version with the crank, and I wish we had the lower-end one where the bowl twists into the base. S

Oh. And the lift bowls are higher end. Not lower end.

It either has a knob on the side that releases it to tilt or s lever on the side that moves it up and down.

The bowl on tilt models fastens to the base. On the left head model it fasteners to the column support. Easy to tell the difference.

You must be missing a booklet. Have never had one not give this info.

There's a model where the top tilts back, and a model they you turn a crank to lower the bowl from the top.

Do they make models where the top does not tilt? The manual that came with ours (a gift) doesn't explain what to do to get it to lift, I can't figure it out and I wonder if we just received a lower-end model.
