You know what is the biggest security risk? People. Let's ban people.

I think it's a security risk even if they are women. When they are covered from head to toe, they look like executioners and I find it really unsettling. They could be walking around a crowded place like Tyson's with a bomb strapped to them underneath all that.

This. It needs to be made illegal.

Thousands of liquor stores in the U.S. were held up by individuals not wearing niqabs. If you want to strap a bomb to your chest, you can do it in a variety of outfits.

What you personally find unsettling is not solid grounds for public policy.

I was thinking the same thing - why try to make your post stand out from all the others? Just write it, don't shout it. Maybe shout it if it's some type of emergency news.

That's all.

What makes you think they are from the Middle East in the first place? The two women I know are American born converts. Most Muslims here were born here.

I don't think that's a fair statement; most niqabis you see around Tysons', specifically, are Gulfies. Muslim-majority country immigration numbers are at approximately a hundred thousand a year (that's a projection, not actual records, because no one tracks religious affiliation of incoming immigrants), so it's a sound theory that a good chunk of Muslims in America weren't born here.

Seeing as they ARE here, it must be acceptable. Maybe you should examine your own motives for wishing to see everyone in great detail.

Modesty is required in Islam for both men and women. It is not solely about the way they dress but modesty in action and character as well. Both are also asked to lower their gaze. The Prophet, peace be upon him said: ‘Every religion has a character, and the character of Islam is modesty.’

Here's a pretty good article.

http://www.cairchicago.org/2012/04/25/understanding-modesty-a-look-at-muslim-men/

You will find, as with every religion, that practice and belief about this varies from person to person, family to family, culture to culture.

Men are supposed to keep their gaze lowered and dress modestly, according to the Quran.

The Hadith includes some more specifics, I believe.

I am aware, of course, that muslim women of a certain age wear certain coverings, like a hijab, and cover their limbs, etc.
Are there certain modesty rules for men as well? Or could, hypothetically, women view men naked but not the other way around?

Thank you in advance for your answer.
