Brewer's Alley! Food is pretty good (not fantastic) but their local brews are amazing.

Definitely check out the Dancing Bear toy shop. It's a great little place with the sweetest local owner who plays with the toys with you to show you how they work.

I also love the Perfect Truffle for chocolates.

Retro Metro is good for gifts if you're doing some holiday shopping.

It's also really fun to walk around the Antiques Emporium, but it's a little bit of a time suck if you hit all of the rooms.

It's not a huge downtown, just wander up and down Main and Patrick streets, and pop into the shops that look good.

Have fun!

We really liked Family Meal the one time we went, but agree you should drive there. It's not in the historic district. You could walk there, but it would be a long and not scenic walk.

The Tasting a Room is a nice restaurant in the downtown area. Friends say it's better than Volt.

Just ate there this weekend. It's ok but I wasn't overly impressed. And you need a car as it is a renovated car dealership so you aren't exactly strolling around town and popping in for a bite.

It is busy enough that I would suggest a reservation so likely I am a minority, but this to be is a bit overblown and riding more on the esteemed coat tails of the owners.

OP here... thanks PP.

Forgot to mention, doesn't have to be family friendly... the kids will be staying with other family members. A nice little break.

We'll be in Frederick and environs for Thanksgiving. On Friday, we'll be walking around the old downtown area. Can you tell me some nice pubs or restaurants for lunch/dinner? Also, not a food topic, but anyone know of some interesting shops or destinations in that area to visit?

TIA
