I was super active in greek life in college. With that being said, I had two friends die, one from alcohol poisoning and another from drugs, after frat parties. Another friend of mine was raped, given a drug and passed out and when she woke up something was raping her. I was also the GF of a frat guy and had guys expect that I would be passed around to them as a "present" (their words) when my BF (their frat bro) was done with me. Seen people go into shock from drugs, had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance, from drugs. All of that stuff with the exception of the two deaths, got brushed under the rug and never touched by any media. But I saw much of it with my own eyes and talked to my friend about her rape and saw the pain in her eyes. The older I get the more I realize how dangerous that scene is, even though it can be a lot of fun.

And this is a big part of the problem with sexual assault on campus. It happens not out in the open where you all see it, but in a locked room upstairs, or in a dorm room after people leave a party. Then, because they didn't see it and it wasn't a big scene when it happens, people believe it doesn't happen. Which immediately calls into doubt the credibility of an alleged victim when you are predisposed to believe this doesn't happen on your campus.

It did happen at your college. Probably to at least one person you knew.

Go down south -- very different culture.

Don't fool yourself by thinking these things only go on at frat parties. It's all common pretty much anywhere young adults hang out when alcohol and drugs are available. House parties, etc.

OP, I think everyone knows that these things happen at frat/sorority parties. If you went to college, then none of this is new.

A LOT of bad stuff...they should get rid them all. Many schools in the Northeast have done so....

I was shocked at the RS article but on other threads, some pps clearly were not. So, what do you know that happened in a frat or sorority that should become known in an effort to help put an end to the atrocious behavior? Drinking, sex, violence, crimes, cruelty?
