I loved my experience with Smith & Noble. They sent a complimentary designer out to our house - optional, but I loved it because I am completely style-blind. She brought a ton of samples, asked us about our general style presences, helped pick out a few options for each room, and set up the samples so we could see them in our natural light with our paint colors. Then she did all the measuring and filled out the order form. Very hassle-free. You can also pick things out online and they'll mail you a sample if you don't want to deal with making an appointment with a designer.
It's been about 3 or 4 years, and we're really happy with the blinds.

Get cordless ones from Lowes and dress with drapes.
I have to add my vote for Next Day Blinds. TEN years ago, they outfitted my entire house with cellular blinds. The shades are used daily and occasionally one will break a string. They have a lifetime warranty and have no problem coming out to the house to repair my shades. Just this last week someone was here to repair a couple of my wide (90") shades. They truly have great service. No complaints.
Officially, after 7 years, you will have to bring a broken shade to their store to have it fixed under warranty but when I called the store to inquire about that, they told that they still might come to the house for the larger blinds. And they did. Great company.

Hunter Douglas are very nice. Depending on where you live, the Color Wheel in McLean is a great place to get them. They will visit your house, help you choose, measure, and install. I've had excellent customer service.

I got mine at blinds to go and they are really nice. Blinds aren't hard to install, but if you can't do it yourself, any handyman should be able to do it for you.

We just bought a new house and need to outfit the entire home with new blinds. What are the "nice" blinds these days? And where does one get them? They will need to be custom and installed.
