I lived on the west coast for a while and the Claremont Colleges were well regarded. Everyone I met from one of the schools was impressive. I never met a Harvey Mudd grad - but that is a very unique profile.

When they surveyed the gov department faculty several years ago, the faculty was about equally divided between those who identified as Republicans and those who identified as Democrats. By having 50% Republican faculty it meant that CMC was to the far right of any other secular college faculty. I think that says more about the state of academia then anything else.

Actually you made my point. If 50% of the faculty is republican it is definitely the school, that is not at all the norm for most liberal arts schools.

With those interests she should go to Claremont McKenna. I am a CMC grad- double major government/economics. Those are definitely the CMC focus areas.

I enjoyed my time at CMC, and it was a great education.

Pomona, Harvey-Mudd, Claremont McKenna = all good. Pitzer and Scripps less so.

sister dreamed of going to pomona - ended up at AWS school. has friends in pomona who all raved about it and said it was super laid back and easy compared to how stressed out my sister and her friends were all at AWS schools.

pomona has the most 'prestige' if you are into that kinda stuff

They are all pretty different so it would depend on what your DD is interested in studying (i.e. Claremont McKenna is more business oriented and conservative while Pitzer is more "artsy" and liberal). However, they all have good reputations - it's best to choose based on your child's interests rather than someone else's arbitrary opinion.

DD is interested in attending one of the Claremont Colleges. Which of them is the best one to go to?
