+1 Seriously. Seems like too many people rely on alcohol to have a good time. Scary.

You know it is possibly to enjoy drinking and still have fun without it, right? The all or nothing mentality is what's scary.

I said "too many people" seem to rely on it to have fun, not that it's not possible. This seems especially true for people under 30's, and it causes all kinds problems.

No. I usually don't drink, but not because I am uptight. Ever since I turned 40, if I have even a glass of wine or beer in the evening, I randomly wake up at 5 am. I hate it.

Yup.
Bigger issue is your husbands immaturity ( I say this as a drinker ).

No, I'm a drinker, but I don't think that about non-drinkers.

I don't drink and I'm not uptight. I just don't need alcohol to have a good time.

No, I have a few friends that don't drink, as well as my SIL (never has) and haven't thought of them as uptight as well.

However the issue here seems to be your husband...is this something he is just learning about you?

Nope, he's known this about me since the beginning. For some reason, it's a problem now.

I had a birthday dinner last night with friends and I didn't drink. My husband asked me who goes out to dinner to celebrate their birthday and doesn't drink then he calls me uptight and a square. I'm not a big drinker, but I don't find myself to be uptight either.
