LEED certified buildings became a running joke for us. Seemed like every school we visited made a point to tout their comitment to the environment and to mention / tour their LEED platinum building. DH works for EPA, so we get it, but frankly it had zero bearing for DD in what she was looking for in a school. When she was accepted to her top choice I texted, "Well that's nice... BUT DO THEY HAVE ANY LEED BUILDINGS?!?!"

Dunno, my kid's at another Big 10 school that charges for sports events and so far with football, basketball and hockey it's not insignificant.

We just got back from a tour of Northwestern with junior DS. I cracked up at how they made this huge deal about athletic events being included in tuition, so they're free for all students. I thought, okay cool. You'll give the kids $500 worth of athletic tickets so then you can charge us $62,500 instead of $63,000! What a sweet deal!

(In Northwestern's defense, it was a lovely school. But that little tidbit was so silly.)

Any others?
