51 and still shopping at Ikea. If I had more money, I'd buy more expensive stuff but (checking wallet) it's not happening.

+1 if Ikea is the furniture people can afford than that is what they should buy. It is good to be frugal.

I'm 44 and I generally use Ikea for our basement and the kids' rooms. I try to keep it off the main floor. FWIW, I've never been to a home in Europe (grand or modest) that didn't have Ikea.

50. Zero Ikea in our house (or our previous house). "Starter" house had Ikea cabinets from prior owner, which were fine, and our early purchases came from Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn and I think Hechts.

We are 35 with two young kids, so Ikea will be our place for most upholstered furniture for a good long while. We'll buy a couch we love when all of the kids are done wetting their pants.

59 and for certain items I buy IKEA. Not major furniture or anything like that, but for storage cubes, some bookshelves, some rugs (for secondary areas like bedroom or basement music room).

One key thing to realize/accept is that IKEA's type of KD/assemble yourself furniture is not made to be moved from house to house once assembled. It's fine to use but doesn't have the structural strength that, e.g., solid wood furniture does to be moved without stressing joints, etc.

When I bought my first furniture for my first apartment in Seattle in 1980 (!), SOVA, a predecessor to IKEA was the source. I still have a solid wood dining room table from SOVA that's survived 6 moves over 30+ years and is in good shape, but most of the IKEA & similar stuff isn't made to stand that.

It's fine for what it is.

I always check IKEA as an option when we're looking for something. I'm 45 and have IKEA bookcases in my living room that I bought 20 years ago and still look great. However, the dressers in our master bedroom are 12 years old and falling apart. So, I'll use them for some things but not everything.

40s with a pretty even mix of Ikea and antiques. Why rule it out of it works?

38, HHI $250k (seems like DCUM always needs to know) and we are probably 50% IKEA.

While some of it may look nice, it is so cheap that I just can't do it. I prefer quality items.

Just curious-- If you still use or are still purchasing new Ikea furniture, how old are you? I'm wondering if I'm the only 50 year old who still likes their stuff.
