Sounds fair ....

Exactly. This “establishment Republican” doesn’t want Obama to issue an EO because:
1. I believe it is unconstitutional. He and his administration are already on thin ice NOT enforcing immigration laws. You know, that old promise to “faithfully execute the laws” and stuff.
2. It will send a message to others thinking about entering illegally that everything is fine - just do it.
3. Entering illegally is a crime. We have enough home grown criminals.
4. Unemployment is still high, despite what the administration says. We don’t need more people coming to take jobs.

Obama is using this as a political issue. You know.... rally his base and everything.

Obama has deported more people than either Bush. The administration was aggressively fining employer who illegally employed illegal immigrants, that is until the Republicans and big businesses pushed back. The Chamber of Commerce is all for raising the number of non-US citizens being allowed into the country to take Tech jobs, which is why they are for the EO.

I believe these last two are mandated by court decisions, and not so easy to do away with.

Not to mention the "free hospital visits" thing is mostly Reagan's fault!

One has to go . Open borders or free stuff. End of story.

Yes, and I agree that we need to provide these to those that are here. However, it is very expensive to the taxpayer--especially in places like Fairfax county.

1) they are here illegally, ie criminals
2) executive action to legalize illegals is, well, illegal.

We are a welfare state with open borders. We are broke. It's insane and suicidal.

Democrats are the establishment. Democrats control the entire administration, the Senate, and arguably the non-partisan Supreme Court (depending on your viewpoint).

Republicans are the minority party. Republicans are the opposition party. And they are further split by the existance of the tea party.

Democrats control everything. Therefore, they own the problem they create through their own exercise of power.

Nice try with "establishment republicans" though. Too ban no one still believes your lies.

Wow. Where to start?

1. Establshment Republicans is a term used by Republicans, for Republicans. And it does not mean what you suggest.
2. A majority of the Supreme Court was appointed by Republican Presidents. This is not a viewpoint. It is a historical fact.
3. The Republicans control the House. How is that less important than the Senate?
4. The Republicans have enough votes to block most Senate action.

Your definition of "everything" suggests that you are incapable of comprehending reality, not to mention compromise.

I'm a liberal, but I think that anyone might be offended when a President does something through executive order that they think should be a legislative issue.

I just wish that ordinary Republicans would become as involved in the issue as the anti-immigrant crowd. The former is just not motivated.

I think the real reason that the establishment Republicans are against the idea of an immigration executive order has nothing to to with putting the deportation of people related to citizens at a lower priority than the deportion of criminals, and has everything to do with they rhetoric that may result from their far right base. I think that they are worried that the far right bases will be making some very racially bigoted statements about Latinos in general that will harm the effort to bring Latinos into the party.

You know there will be statements made that will be over the top from office holders.
