Right around $10k for a large 2 bedroom apartment, counting shared kids room, dining room, living, master and rugs. Most of it high end but found at outlets, several floor samples and good old Craigslist!

This one intrigued me! I added it all up and came up with $15150. This includes all of the furniture and carpets that we've purchased, plus mattresses. It does not include lamps, bedspreads and other useful furnishings of that type.

We have a 4 BR house, but inherited a lot of furniture (dressers, beds, mirrors, kitchen table, a few end tables). I've had some of these pieces for YEARS and purchased some of this furniture in 1998-2002.

We're likely buying a new couch soon. When I look at the total cost of the furniture in our home, one additional couch seems pretty expensive!

Maybe $20-$25k? Some of it I've had since law school, so this is over the last 11+ years. We currently have empty rooms in our new house, so eventually I'll spend more I guess.

I'd say the single most expensive room is the dining room, but my mom bought the buffet as a house-warming present in our first home. The hutch and the dining table/chairs were roughly $5000 combined.

Maybe $10,000 for 3 bedroom townhouse? Most of it is Ikea/Craigslist/yardsale, with a few $500-$1000 pieces from auctions/antique stores.

Kitchen table was $100 used bought from a neighbor in our building. Got my coffee table and desk and bookcase cheap this way too. Baby room stuff is new.

Probably $50,000? Hard to say as it's been accumulated over a very long time. Some pieces are family pieces.

We are buying some new furniture for the main level of our second home and plopping down $20k at once, which I've never done before. It's mostly mid range stuff and includes 3 rugs. We will need a few more pieces after this but not much.

I don't invest a lot because like everything else in a home it needs updated every few years unless you are doing antiques. And I don't like antiques.

A lot of our furniture is antique, but found at various yard sales. I've bought a couple of more expensive pieces, like a nice antique carved German buffet for $1,700 when we got married. The sofas are a mix of stuff I purchased for our MCM and stuff I got from my mom when she downsized and my grandmother when she died (in the basement). The baby grand piano I inherited so it doesn't count, I wouldn't have bought one.
