All the notes and press following Starr's recent Townhall show that he is focused on ESL and the achievement gap. They already have run their budget into the ground so now it will come from other programs.
The Blair magnet program has been gutted by the principal who behaves like a teenager. Kids in the one of the most prestigious programs are now being asked, get this: to play BINGO. Until parents take a aggressive action to stop the gutting of the program in the name of closing the gap the gutting of magnet programs will continue. Wake up people!!

Are they paying extra to the teachers? Transportation cost could be an issue as well. Since these programs are funded from the "Special Needs" program - will they shelve the SN programs as well?
I see it as a stupid way to close the "achievement gap".
