My nonverbal daughter likes Ariel. She also loves Cinderella. Not everything for kids should be literal.

Disney distributed My Neighbor Totoro in which the mother is confined to a hospital bed.

Wait...Disney has a movie with Jesus Christ as a disabled princess? Which one? How did I miss this?

The older child is getting a warped impression of Down Syndrome from mom.

How about an OLD princess? Or a GAY princess?

So glad my DCs have aged out of this nonsense.

The Incredibles are GT but not allowed to show it because others might feel bad about their plain-ol selves.

Rapunzel is GT in art.

Ariel is temporarily mute.

Originally Pixar but Nemo has a little fin and Dory has short-term memory impairment.

Also, *yawn* on the forced inclusivity.

You mean a visibly motor-challenged hero or heroine?

Because other, more subtle disabilities have cropped up already. Olaf is very literal, and has an uncanny personality resemblance to my Aspergery son. Elsa has a power which makes her different and that she can't control - reminiscent of how gifted and talented yet learning disabled kids struggle in school.

Yes, because Disney princesses so reflect reality.

I'd be happier if they'd stop killing of the moms.

WaPo makes a compelling case that its discrimination to not have Disney movies staring disable princesses, or at least lead characters who are disabled!:

It is LOOOOOONG overdue!
