Anyone know what the score means? I have the number but don't know what it means. No percentile was provided

I did for my 1st grader. My oldest is in 3rd and this is the first year I got scores for either of them.

Went to the conference for my 1st grader today, and was told that the Staff Development teacher could provide me with the full MAP-P report for my child.

I'm pretty sure my first grader took the map-p a while ago. I haven't seen a score, so I asked at his conference and was told that I would need to ask his afternoon math teacher for the score. He did have a line item on his report card about receiving above grade level enrichment in math.

if your dd's struggles are with math, the map-p test can be a big help in this regard. the testing coordinator should be able to pinpoint specific skills that your child can work on. we've never seen this type of report for our child but according to the testing company they report what the child got right and wrong on a very granular level to the school. for instance, she may be able to do single digit addition but gets confused when it's double digits. or she can do addition well when the question is written vertically but gets tripped up when it's written horizontally.

i'm not sure how readily this type of information is available but you definitely have a right to see it under law.

Did you talk about the areas where your child is having difficulty when you had your meeting. I would think that that would be far more important that knowing the test score. The test score might point to the degree of difficulty you kid is having but not where. You already seem to know that your DD is struggling, so finding areas to address I think would be key.

Map p score was sent home with the report card about a month ago. Last year in K I was unaware there even was a test until the end of the year.

Some schools send the scores home, some don't. It really puzzles me when schools don't send the scores home since they spend so much time during the first few months of school assessing the children.

For 1st grade there are probably only two tests:
Map-p math (a raw number so you should ask for the mean in the grade or the school as well. standard deviation would be helpful as well but i doubt schools have that readily available)

mclass reading (this basically tells you the reading level but they definitely track more data that your teacher could relay to you)

had ours yesterday (k parent). teacher didn't give us dd's scores but she explained what each test was (map-p, m-class and KRA). she said we would get map-p scores sent home, m-class scores on first semester report card, and would not get KRA scores. it was helpful to understand more about what each test was, how it was administered, what it was used for, etc.

We were told our Kindergarten DS is reading at level 5 and that the school's goal is to have everyone at level 6 by the end of the year.

When do they take this test?

K parent. We didn't get the actual scores or percentiles but were told DC is "above grade level" and gets a special pull out for math with "a few" other kids.
I know another parent who was told her child is "on grade level" during her conference but I don't think she got any specific numbers either.
