My Kenmore Elite dual fuel oven/stove has a warmer drawer with a bread proofing setting. I'm not sure what the temp is for that.

alton brown has a genius hack with your existing oven and a box fan. Google it.. The episode was called withering bites.

OP here. Thanks for the replies.

My current range, which is a typical GE model from 8 or so years ago, has 170 as the lowest setting.

I would like to skip the dehydrator, as it takes a lot of counter space while in use and then needs to be stored away somewhere.

Don't typical ranges have low temp setting?

It does seem a little odd to select an oven based on using it as a dehydrator which costs $50. I've done both, prefer dehydrator.

I don't think it's odd at all if you spend a lot of time dehydrating things. I got the exact dehydrator you linked to, and found that it worked pretty well though doesn't have much capacity if you want to do large batches. Then I realized my Dacor wall ovens go down to 135, and I just started using those. They are vastly easier to work with and don't take up the extra counter space of a dedicated dyhydrator.

OP--my ovens are old, so don't have a special dehydrator function, but they do a great job. I've been very pleased with them though I'd never owned (or even heard of) Dacor appliances before moving to my current house.

Anyone have an oven with its lowest temperature setting lower than 170 degrees? I am looking to replace my freestanding range, and want to have the ability to use it as a dehydrator.

Thank you!
