Subject: bedroom furniture suggestion - like Pottery Barn
We live in a small 1920s house with tiny bedrooms too.
We have slowly acquired period-looking pieces of furniture at bargain prices by going to estate sales and trawling on Craigslist. Friends have also recommended specialty consignment stores, but it would probably be more expensive.
Our bedroom set is a very good quality classic, cream-colored with handpainted flowers. We found it in a estate sale for a few hundred dollars, but had to move it ourselves though. Our greatest find was a $300 entryway chest of drawers worth $3K.
Good luck, OP. Shopping like this takes patience, but when you find exactly the piece you were dreaming of, it's such a thrill!

Crate and Barrel has a storage bed - I've had good luck with their furniture.

Sometimes Costco has good bedroom sets that are reasonable--just watch the size, though...some are huge

I have the same question. Have not been able to find anything I like as much as the PB bedroom furniture...but would love to spend less.

I would suggest checking out Pier 1.

Look at Room & Board. Their prices are actually not that much considering the quality

So my husband and I live in an older house with tiny bedrooms. We'd like to get a bedroom set and we love a set from Pottery Barn because the bed has storage drawers underneath it, but isn't too big to crowd our room. I seem to recall being able to buy similar furniture directly from the manufacturer for a lower price since you weren't paying for the Pottery Barn mark-up. Since everything has been outsourced though is this possible anymore? Where do folks buy furniture from that isn't Pottery Barn or the like anymore? Is there a price point between Ikea and PB? I'm not much of a decorator so any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
