Stuart-Hobson near Union Station although some claim it's hard to get into outside its boundaries or direct feeders. I don't think that's entirely true. Some compelling pros: solid core course offerings, including advanced courses, with a system of electives and options that allow to specialize with an eye on high school applications (e.g. fast-tracks in math/geometry), individualized schedules, excellent support and preparation for application high schools, with proven track-record to place advanced students in reputed test-in public and private schools.

General DCPS rankings:
* Deal (but no OOB seats)
* Hardy/Stuart-Hobson (depending on where in DC you live; Hardy has the advantage that you get a seat at Wilson)
* Jefferson (rising faster)/Elliot-Hine

OP here. Thanks for the replies. I have a 4th grader at one of the popular charter schools that go up till 12th grade. I'm not so confident about their middle and high school so I'm looking at other options for middle school. It's not a Montessori school so I think a Montessori middle school is not an option.

Which btw, is not an option for a kid who has not previously been in Montessori. I'm guessing the OP does not have a current Montessori kid since she didn't mention it.

Now that it's almost time to enter the lottery for next school year, which are the highly regarded/good public/charter middle schools. It seems that aside from WOP schools that are almost impossible to get into, only Latin and Basis are often mentioned here. Any other contenders? Thanks.
