My neighborhood is. I know of several gay couples who live here. Everyone is accepting, as they should be.

Lol OP, are you from here? I'm assuming you are if you know about takoma park (which actually has great schools). Anyways, the dmv area itself, is pretty darn diverse. Older couples, young couples, gay couples, interracial couples, minority couples, etc. People are going to judge at times, honestly, who doesn't but seriously, the dmv area is diverse and open so if you are looking, look for great schools, not gay friendly neighborhoods.

Unless you plan to have weekly gay pride parades, annoying the hell out of everyone, no one would give a flying f..k about your sexuality.

+1. The middle school/hs situation may be fixed in time if your kid is young.

Takoma Park MD is pretty much the gold standard for LGBT friendly neighborhood with good schools. There are of course pockets in DC proper too. NoVa probably isn't the place for you.

Lots of educated, upper middle class families (queer and hetero) are very happy with Takoma Park schools.

Then just move to Potomac or McLean and be done with it. No one really cares that you're queer.

Dupont has Ross School. Several same sex parents there and the school is great.

Awesome neighborhood, but I'm thinking that if OP doesn't find Takoma Park, MD schools acceptable, then she's not going to go for this plan.

I really don't think there are any gay-unfriendly neighborhoods in the dmv area. I live in nova and I don't think anyone would care. That said, there doesn't seem to be a big contingent of gay couples, so maybe that would seem isolating to a new-comer.
