OP here. I was running late. I wasn't going to be able to get her at the bus stop.
The school policy is that they're not supposed to let kids off the bus unless the parents are there.
I mean, come on, if I don't pick the kid up from school, they'll just send the child home walking?
Why is it their problem? Did you even tell them you couldn't be there, or did you expect the bus driver to go ahead and take her in, change her diaper (Pampers goes up to size 7 now!) and make her a sippy of diluted juice while the other kids wait on the bus for you to show up?

Not OP, but I don't think a driver should drop 5 year old off without a parent present. The driver should have kept her on the bus and taken her along with him as he finished his drops, then called you to pick her up from wherever the bus ends up.

But the the school bus dropped off my 5 year old anyway. Wtf? She walked alone, by herself, for one block and came to the locked house. No one was at home. She just stood there, on the street, and sobbed. Lucky I was running just a few minutes later.
