Loved, loved, loved these two brothers and car talk on NPR!
And I have no interest in cars whatsoever. The only car I can actually recognize and have an appreciative reaction to is a Corvette!

OP, my thoughts are exactly the same as yours! I listened to their show just this past Saturday a.m. and didn't realize it was a re-run. Loved to hear those guys laugh!

This makes me so sad. I love Car Talk. I knew they'd stopped producing new shows, but didn't realize Tom had Alzheimers.

Awwww. I knew they had retired and were running old calls. I think they were doing some of the "in between" bits currently though. I didn't really understand why they retired, but it makes sense now if Tom had Alzheimer's. Very sad, indeed.

In fact, I was just listening to him this past Sat. morning and thought it was a live show. Turns out he had not recorded a live show for over 2 years!
What you hear on talk radio are simply re-runs. The show was, in my opinion, one of the best shows on the radio. I was also not aware that Tom and his brother were graduates of MIT.
The world is a lesser place for his passing.
