So, if stores are actively looking for workers, we should not apply so that someone else who NEEDS it can?
I suppose you could say that about my main job too, since my spouse works and technically we should be able to cover all needs.
Maybe there is a out of work single parent who is happens to qualify, but I am in their way... I should get out.

Why work retail if you don't have to though?

Yes, petco actually does hire people at $13/$14 as stock and special department.

Saks Fifth Avenue pays $16/hour plus commission. 30 percent employee discount.

My BIL worked at Pottery Barn part time in grad school. He used the discount also good at Williams and Sonoma to furnish his apartment after he graduated.

What type of pay is common at these stores? I know container store started a friend at $15 and Petco is paying my neighbors son $14 hour.

Retail is soul-sucking hell. Customers are annoying, the job can be mind-numbing, and your feet will hurt and you will be exhausted when you leave. I did it all through college. It sucked.

You could get seasonal work now, but they'll have a set schedule that you will need to follow. I think I had to work 2 nights during the week and one weekend day, then more as Christmas approached. The discount was good (25% or 30%), but you had to do bag checks and deal with the drama of people quitting as it got closer to the holidays. Tons of work and really sucks the joy out of the holidays in my opinion. This was C&B.

Worked for CB2, it was horrible. C&B is a sinking ship.

Try Room and Board.

I'm thinking a retail store, such as Pottery Barn, West Elm , CB2 or Crate Barrel. Anyone know anything about employee discounts, best one to work for? Would like to work (Ideally) Mondays anytime from 8-6pm and evening hours the rest of the week. Is that even possible to get hired with such a limited schedule. Whats the pay like in this type of store? I do have at least 7 years of management experience, just not in retail. Don't care if I'm a floor person or in management.
