Leave it alone.

Don't worry about door dings. Comes with the territory of living in a city. I've been both the dinger and the dinged. We try to be as careful as possible, but with kids, it's hard. Heck, sometimes, it's hard for me too when people decide to park so close to me that I can barely open the door.

I think you did what you could but leaving a note would be nice.
I've been dinged more significantly by at least 3 a-holes in the past 3 months who didn't have the class to leave a note, each of the 3 are significant enough that they could qualify as hit & run of an unattended vehicles.
People are (too often) assholes.

It's part of life. No worries. One day we are the dinger and another day we will be the dingee.

Don't worry about it. Someone recently side swiped my parked van and caused $2500 in damage and did not leave a note. That type of damage I would worry about.

OP, don't worry about it. I think you get good karma just for caring so much.
Someone dented my car door a month after I bought it. I was surprised that I made it a whole month. It's the city. Things happen. I'm more concerned about expensive fixes like mirrors, glass and tires.

Door dings are not worth worrying about. Anything larger (big scrape, dent), leave your contact info on the other car. There are cameras everywhere, so if you try to scram, you'll be leaving the scene of an accident.

Little dings? Nothing. They are to be expected. Worse damage? Leave your name and phone number under the windshield wiper.

You are a kind person, OP! A few months ago someone scraped my door down to the metal and didn't leave jack. Looks like someone's kid probably swung open a higher up SUV door. The most annoying part of this is that I purposely parked as far from the line as possible at the end of a row. But shit happens. If it wasn't noticeable I wouldn't worry about it.

We were just at the grocery store. DD opened the car door, the wind caught it and I now think it dinged the car beside us (slight paint, but no dent) When it happened I got out to check and the ding was a little below the pointed part of our door. And there was no paint on our car's point. I left, not leaving a note. Got home, got on my knees in sunlight and examined the door again. I saw there was some paint on the under curve of the door (tough to explain here, but it was under the pointed part). Loaded the kids back up, went back to leave a note and the car was gone. I saw the same car at a light pulling out of the shopping center and stalked them, but didn't see a mark. I headed home and called the store. They said no one reported anything and laughed when I tried to leave my information. I will call them again tomorrow to see if anyone complained.
Should I call the nonemergency number for our county? Will they even take my information?
Feeling like an a$$ that I didn't look closer/under the curve of the door when I was there.
