In any case, what they will almost certainly give you is a prescription for physical therapy. I"m not sure if you've ever done it before, but for me it was an hour three times a week for a few months that included about 20-25 minutes of massage and then some exercises largely designed to strengthen the glutes and the core. I should be doing the exercises still but have slacked off, though my personal trainer makes sure those areas get enough work.
It's a huge time suck but very worth it. It definitely helped me a lot. I have always had issues, like you, and basically it got so bad I couldn't play tennis or run. A few months later I was back doing both.
yes, see a Dr and do some PT. A PT will give oyu exercises to strengthen you core, back and surrounding areas.
