Is there anyway she can move closer to you? That way it might be easier for you to help get her to drs and such. Good luck op. I'm so sorry this is happening.

Yes, you need to put your family and job ahead of mom. Decide on how much you can help and stop there. Get help for her where she is or move her here.

If your mom wants/needs your physical support moving her or moving you is the option. But your job and supporting your child has to be your primary consideration so moving mom is more likely. Hard but you have to do hard things sometimes. Lt it is a better solution

Talk to the social workers at her hospital to search out further resources. It's so tough -- good luck

OP, sending love, support and prayers your way. I am so sorry for what you and your mom are going thru. Hang in there and take one step at a time. Can you work remotely to ease the burden of you being absent from your job? Is your mom involved in church or temple where she lives? If so, there may be some volunteers that can take her to doc appts and provide companionship in your absence. Wishing you all the best while you go through this.

really overwhelmed. my mom lives out of state and has been sick on and off for the last three years, a lot in the last 9 months. i'm the only child (and a single mom) and have been running back and forth for doctor visits, hospitalizations. nothing is stable so hard to think of a plan for how to manage as it's a moving target. clear that it would be better is she moved here but can't do that in the middle of a crisis (which is what is going on now). possibility that her cancer is recurring right now, which is getting me really panicked. will have to contact docs and bring her for tests, i suspect. have missed so much work lately it's becoming a problem.

just venting. i know there are no easy answers. just a hard time of life with aging parents and young kids…and i'm doing it on my own.
