Yes - from salmon that I cooked until it was well done but it tasted funny yet I stupidly continued to eat it.

Yes. My mom is horrible about food safety and I ended up in the emergency room bc it was so violent that there was blood. My stomach hasn't been the same since!

Yes from home cooking when I was about 10. Never from a restaurant.

Yes. Years ago my boss invited us to dinner at his house on Saturday night. Everyone turned up looking pale on Monday.

Oh, and taking care of the infant the next day while both DH and I were throwing up every 15 minutes - that was FUN!

I have. It was pork something, don't remember exactly what. My theory - which sounds crazy but I can't think of anything more plausible - is that accidentally served the pork with a serving utensil that I had also used on it while it was still raw (prepping it before it went in the pan). Either that or I made a salad with contaminated lettuce (I do wash a my produce before eating, but maybe I missed a leaf??).

I don't know exactly how I did it, but DH and I both woke up within an hour of each other, middle of the night, and spent the next day vomiting. After a day, it cleared up completely, as suddenly as it had started. That was the only meal we'd shared. DS, who was only a couple of months old and not eating solids, didn't get sick at all. So I'm pretty sure it was food poisoning from that meal.

Never from home or restaurant food.

I've had the runs, of course, but who hasn't?

My mom got sick from a catered wedding. The health department was involved and everything. She was down for a few days. She also felt really bad for the bride and groom, who of course were mortified.

Never.

No, which makes me think all the posters who routinely throw out food that's been given to them or left out for an hour are crazy.

No, and not when I was growing up either.

I haven't - have gotten sick from restaurant food a number of times - but a group of friends went to a lake house for the weekend a few months ago and everyone got sick except the one vegetarian who hadn't eaten the chicken they ate.

I was just thinking about how every time my questioned my mom's cooking or questionable prep habits she'd yell at us "Have I ever made you sick?!" And she hasn't so we usually just shut up.

But I'm curious: has anyone gotten sick from something their parents made or have you made your own family sick?
